Whispers and Nightmares
Part 5
Conclusion
As they continued on their path the armor clad asura was standing by in front of the Chantry. His hands to his sides as he just stares ahead. Or was he staring ahead? His radio filter clicks on as he speaks "Objective completed?"
Fare just looked the other way, she would let San do the talking this time. She would certainly be in trouble for the death of the male, both were supposed to be brought in alive.
"Eh? Who- Oh. Ye be da bloke who wants Doctach Wack an' Nurse Nutter. Soz t' say, but da doctah gots a hole in 'is 'ead." Sanyja says, jerking a thumb to Fare who was carrying the corpse. Why was she carrying the corpse? The norn approaches the metal midget, gently plopping down the female asura. "Nurse nutter gots a gud dose 'o tranq darts. She be outs fer a gud... Hrmm....I say 'boot six 'ours. As fer da dead guy, I s'pose ye wan' da blokes body? He dun sum funky craps wif et...'Alf 'of 'im be metal and sheit.." She shrugs, tapping her chin a bit. "Oi. I also dun told da leaf t' blows up da place. Et be caved in an' all. Soz, but dat place be roight messed. Ain' jack t' learn that unless we wanna be one 'o dem freak doctahs...If dat be da case, den I gunna 'ave t' shank ye." She sighs, tugging on her beat up coat sadly. "Tch..I needs t' get me acidic an' flame proof coats.."
"Death of one. ....Leave them both here. Coordinate response will be verified. If you must leave to your own duties you may do so. Otherwise if you have the time you will be notified now. Choices to be made?" Spoke the red clad asura looking to Farellynn for a moment.
Farellynn just gently laid the body down before the Asura, not saying a word. She moved over to the side a bit before sitting down gently running her fingers over the burn marks on her face.
The norn shrugged, checking all of her gear for a bit before moving towards the chantry entrance. "A-yerp. My part 'o dis task be dun. Seemin' likes ye know dis metal midget. I leave ye to ets, rock-log. When ye dun, comes inside fer sum medical treatsment, eh? Ye needs it....An' yer welcome fer dem pistols. Keeps 'em. Ne'r knows when dey might 'elps 'gain." Sanyja said. With a loud huff, the norn tightly sealed up all her bags and stuffed the damaged coat into one. Before long the norn dove into the water, swimming down through the maze like tunnels to get to the Chantry.
"I hate that woman sometimes." Fare says blandly, talking almost completely to herself as she waits patiently, mostly just happy to sit. If allowed she would seek medical attention elsewhere. She was none to fond of these people. She would do what they said when it was asked but otherwise she'd just mind her own.
Coming down the tunnel there was a tall human female figure walking her full features yet determined with the dim lit cave, she looked to the the red clad asura and Farellynn sitting down then to the two on the ground "These them?" she spoke calmly moving hair from her face for anyone who knew her as Miss Anson.
The Asura turns around to Anson "Correct. One is dead however. Response from affirmated objective is unknown unless you know such response. The male one is dead." He points slowly to the male Asura.
Anson put a finger to her chin in thought looking down to the corpse "Keep him, for identification. He should be on his way shortly. The other I presume unconscious?"
Fare really wanted to lay down in the sand but ultimately decided against it given the mangled-ness of her torso.
Anson looked over to Fare "Are you the one who obtained these two?"
Glances to Farellynn a moment then back to Anson slowly. "Suggestion. Bring them in. Preserve the male. Allow other to rest."
Miss Anson nodded. "Good idea, we'll place her in containment for questioning when she wakes. Hmn. We'll have their captors present if available."
Watches for a moment then just turns around heading into the chantry himself.
Abranka soon approaches to the cave once more having remembered this place previously from a few times. He glances around noticing Farellynn with a blink.
Anson was idly waiting for it appeared to be Abranka, she turned looking to him "Ah, you made it safely."
Farellynn looks over to Abranka a moment before looking down at the ground, trying to hide her face with her hand unsuccessfully... She was too sore and too crispy for this.
Anson looked to Fare seeing the gazes exchanged "Unfortunately one did not make it, the other will be ready for questioning shortly if you wanted to confirm their identities."
"Which one- ...what do you mean? Who? One was killed?!" He blinks giving a slight frown.
Anson nodded "Yes, the male - Shall we then?" she glanced to Fare and then to Abranka leading him off to the cell and the area with the corpse.
He looks to Farellynn keeping his frown. It fades rather quickly noticing her reaction and sighs looking to Anson and following her.
He was led to the corpse first of the male, who was laid on his back and cleaned up showing where he was shot in the head. The elemental runes and enhancements still on him.
The ashen sylvari slowly peeled herself off the ground, it was only polite to be present to answer any question. Her gait was slow, and her breathing very forced, trying to will away the pain of the severe burns that would surely scar now given the time it took to get from metrica to here without medical attention.
"How did he die? Who shot him? ..I told Maranari I wouldn't have her parents killed!" He gives a frown once more looking to Anson.
Anson looked over to Farellynn "I beleive she will be able to answer any questions pertaining to any unfortunate accidents."
Farellynn cleared her throat, "It was my fault Abranka." She ran her hands through her white petals, the feeling bringing her burnt hands great pain, but she couldn't not fidget. After her less than ceremonious exit and now this. The poor sylvari simply could not get a break.
"Why? Why did you kill him?" He turns directly to Farellynn. His features seem to soften a moment noticing how she looked. Noticing her battered form and then just sighs. "They didn't go willingly I'm assuming?"
"I had no choice Abranka, it wasn't even intentional." She spins around showing the impressive ice burn all up her back the skin beginning to peel, crack and bleed where it had been frozen the worst, "I fired behind me... and..." She shrugged a bit turning back to face Abranka. There were burn marks on her face, but the majority of the damage seemed to be on her shoulder chest and arm where the burns were quite horrific.
"...." He continues to just watch her as the frown fades and nods slowly glancing to the side "Alright. Never mind my hostile then. I'm sorry. ...I want to get those burns and marks checked in though... So don't hide away forever." He looks back up to Farellynn watching her a bit concerned.
Anson nodded a bit as she put her hands behind her back "Ah; well if you have more to question her with then go ahead - otherwise we can look into waking the other."
The leaf just chuckled nervously, rubbing at her stark white petals painfully. She studied Abranka a moment, before looking away. Her stomach turning at the thought of waking that woman who had assisted in so many abominations, and not just any, twisted figures of those she considered friend or family.
"So long as Farellynn doesn't.. just... leave.. and get herself hurt again... lets go wake this.. 'other' you speak of then.." He glances to Anson now more curious then ever as he raises a brow.
Farellynn shirked away at Abranka's words. This was all too much for her and she ends up taking a seat on the ground, pulling her knees as close to her chest as she could comfortably get them, which was not very close at all. Her sickening suspicions confirmed and having been the one too pull the trigger, she would hardly be able to look Abranka in the eye let alone Mara now.
She motioned him to follow as she led him to the cell with the woman still asleep her hair was a mess and half out of it's buns, her hair dark brown in green robes. Anson motioned to Lunst to wake the woman up with the syrum.
Lunst moves into the cell after opening it and injects the syrum into the asura. He steps back and closes the cell once again. He turns and stands guard watching Abranka for a moment as Abranka watches back. He squints to the armored figure then back to the cell.
The syrum took a few moments as she jolted violently sitting up looking surprised at first then around to see where she was.
Abranka continues to stare at her seeing how she jolted alive. He took a step back worried for a moment then steps forward placing his hands behind himself. He reaches up and pulls the helmet off slowly clipping to his back.
The female asura jerked standing up as she realized she was in a cell as she tried to send bolts towards the cage - them being absorbed by some force of protection.
Abranka just continues to watch her glowering slowly as he tightens his hands "What is your name?"
She narrowed her eyes to Abranka has he asked as she tried to throw another bolt at him it absorbing into the cage walls "You! Where is Orin!?"
"Who is Orin...?" He simply speaks keeping his same glower right back at her.
She seemed to become angry As she walked angerly up to the wall glaring to Abranka "Where is Orin?!" she shouted as she looked over seeing Fare.
The Sylvari was watching the encounter from her seated position on the ground and she just watched the woman, her violet pools wells of sadness. She made no attempt to answer, no attempt to move or defend her actions verbally. She knew the woman would recognize her.
Abranka glances to Farellynn then to the Asura once more "You leave her out of this. I am speaking to you and asking you who is Orin?"
She almost hissed rather angerly her blue eyes seething with anger "... The man -she- shot... my husband." she continued to watch Farellynn.
"Hes dead." He simply states watching her "He is layed out on the ground with a wound to the head. He isnt coming back or able to be rescued. Brain damage. He is deceased."
She looked then to Abranka frowning she huffed a bit turning away pacing to the back of the cell. She ran her hand through her bangs.
"It wasn't the idea to have him killed but merely brought to question. It would seem your Inquest ways has brought his death affront. I suggest you speak and reply to my questions to make this less painful. I am growing short of you already." Abranka replies with a slight frown.
She turned abruptly "What are you talking about!? YOU SENT PEOPLE INTO MY LAB!" she growled to Abranka she tried to summon a flesh beast but the wards caused it to fail.
"Maranari." Is all he spoke to her as she made the attempt to summon. His anger starting to rise in himself but he was trying his best to control that and compose himself as a diplomat. He was failing.
"She has nothing to do with this!" she growled as several more necromantic blasts hit the cage walls.
Just glares right at her as she continued to attack "You know you don't act very Asura for being retarded. I suggest you confine your abilities and just ask and listen"
She walked up to Abranka staring him down "You kill my husband, you plan on killing her too?" she frowned as there were scoffing marks on the cage from her attacks.
"I didn't kill him. YOU did. Just like you muted her. I have no plans to kill her. Only to love her." He kept his same stare right back at her frown on his face.
"I DID NOT SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD!" she pointed to Farellynn "SHE DID!"
"I said to leave her out of this!" He shouts back to her and glances to Farellynn.
Farellynn quickly pulls herself to her feet, almost falling over again, "And you tried to have me crushed and forced me to murder the forms of my own friends! PIT ME UP AGAINST PEOPLE I KNEW! Your horrible magical-mechanical monstrosities!" She shouted bitterly.
The female asura glared at Fare "You -barge- into my lab, try to steal my notes - and you expect to simply just be able to WALK AWAY? There are reasons you were attacked you stupid twig!"
"Where'd you get information so personal? Knowing about Aurora...Rorshak, even myself?" Farellynn asked coldly, steadying herself, breathing picking up a quickened pace. She returned the glare and if looks could kill her violet pools would speak the death of thousands.
Abranka looks back to Farellynn simply remaining quiet now as he takes note to her reactions.
She growled "Perhaps you should read the notes you STOLE." she walked away pacing again "Idiots - all of you."
Farellynn was simply not having this, after all of that to have the woman berate her so openly, she produced the recovered papers, holding them out for Abranka as she moved forward, "Perhaps little girl, you would do best to answer questions when asked. I have no quarter for you and what you did back there in your lab, I'm hardly sure how you don't recognize him..." She says pointing to Abranka, "Being that your machinations of him were what tried to do me in first." Her body language was threatening, aggressive even.
He blinks to Farellynn. Something in his mind now warning him not to look at the notes but he slowly did glancing to a few of the words and reading.
Pacing back over to the cage looking up at Farellynn "If you have such a problem enter this cage you stupid twig! You set yourself up coming inside the lab - nearly getting yourself killed. It should have been you and not Orin!"
"I'd be in there in a heart beat if they would let me in, but I'm none to keen on going against the word of my employers in the sanctity of their own halls, so help me if they were to let me..." She spat coldly, adrenaline helping to will the pain away again.
"You dare think you can take me you stupid twig?" she snarled "You have no idea what you've done!"
He continues to read along the notes watching closely. His attention diverting from it watching the two of them again.
"You're here are you not? Is your husband not slain by my hand? I think I know very well what I have done and am capable of." Her tone was sharp as razors, the condescending over tone to them just making her sound that much crueler, "Shut up and answer the questions, you've lost, keep what little honor you have left, Inquest garbage." the last part was muttered as she turned from the cell.
"You had to have that NORN to save your ass, with Cuddles and everything!" she snarled.
She took immediate pause, it was a long silent moment before she turned back around, "Are you really, really going to try my patience like that woman?" she probed, she was in no condition to fight but if this little asura didn't learn to stay her tongue, Fare was going to go in there.
"Hah, you kid me? That norn saved you! You owe everything to that woman. Hah - you self centered twig."
Her hand instinctively dropped to her dagger, and she laughed, and laughed a moment, "That's rich.... coming from you. Who is here alone now..." Up close the damage to her arm shoulder and upper chest would be better measure, the damage was quite extensive and bits of fabric still were buried in it, and the surface area of the blistering wound was quite marked. The marks on her face suggested some kind of splatter and this was further supported by a number of splattering burns on her torso and the numerous holes in what was left of her shirt.
She really was going to lose her marbles after the last week she's spent crashing Inquest parties for the order.
She snorted a bit "You... Apparently, you may be alive but you know nothing of sacrifice." she directed her gaze to Abranka "As your questions, the twig you keep company will probably glaze over - provide me with some -stimulating- conversation."
"What manner are you using to watch through others eyes?" He speaks watching the asura closely "What is your name?"
Farellynn shuffles toward the back again, needing to take a seat. There was nothing she could do in the halls of the Chantry, she would let Abranka do his thing, and then see what was up... and then it was nap time. She was going to sleep for many many hours she hoped.
Her hateful blue eyes narrowed on Abranka "Mhmph... Alza - as far as how how else does one -see-?"
"These notes depict how you can see through eyes. Assuming your necromantic abilities allow you to see like Zhaitan did. Does this mean you did the same with Maranari? ..Is that how you know about Farellynn's friends?"
"Please, you insult my work assuming it's purely necromantic."
"Then what is it?" He continues watching her.
"You're a smart asura, give me your guesses and we'll see if that cranial capacity does you any good."
Farellynn listened in closely she was going to be sick, that explanation fit so nicely with the eyeless abominations, she held back every desire to purge the Inquest woman, and so she shuffled a little further away.
"My cranial capacity is more then you can even imagine to your limited capacity. I suggest you tell me what this flop says in the notes because a skritt can write better then this excuse. What is this? Gelatine language? Writing with your mind in purgatory?" Abranka spoke watching her "Assuming the only logical way that it can be Maranari seeing as she knows a lot as what I do."
"I know as much as she does, how you hide from your friends the potential progeny, yes - or perhaps other intimate secrets... What is it you think we do, you assume we are merely Inquest..." she laughed a bit "No, we work on perfecting those imperfect."
Stares at her as his face goes a little paler then what it is. Looking a bit horror stricken he continues to just watch her which soon follows to narrowed eyes "What is she then?" He speaks more quietly.
"Who, the mistake you love?" she was chuckling a bit now.
"What is she?" He replied simply once again watching her as he slowly collects himself "Well?"
She slowed her chuckled "A mistake of my flesh and blood, you should be more specific if you want answers. Perfection was not an option with her - so many tests."
"What kind of tests did you perform. What did she end up becoming to you? And why did you let her go from yourselves if that is the case?"
"Hmmmn, oh you are specific now... Maybe you aren't so stupid... Now then, recalling all the tests would take too long... Seven hundred... twenty-eight is the approximate number... You know how noisy children are? No, of course not foolish of me to ask..." she laughed "Resolved that easy enough... Now then..." she paused grinning at Abranka.
Farellynn rose from her spot on the floor again, shaking like well, a leaf. She had heard just about enough out of this damned woman. The sylvari turned around, staring at Alza, "You didn't answer his questions. What did she end up becoming?" her voice was laced again with the same unyielding malice she carried through her fight with the clones at the lab.
Alza looked up at Farellynn "Shut up before you snap twig." she resumed her gaze to Abranka with a grin.
Continues to watch Alza as he remained quiet. His ears didn't even move to the voices as he remained completely still. Emotions unclear.
"Listen you little witch, I'd be happy to drag the lifeless corpse of your husband in... happy too. You don't get away with treating people like that, I /should/ have killed you too. Useless Inquest trash." She spit out, she would go and locate the body, and she would do exactly to Alza, as she was doing to them.
"I said shut up sap for brains, I'm talking to your intellectually superior and yet... Dumb struck friend here." she looked to Abranka "Now then..." she grinned "Where were we?"
"What did she end up becoming? And why did you let her go from yourselves?" He continued on speaking rather quietly. It was hard to tell if his sanity was gone or merely just ignored everything in the room.
"Oh, we were in the middle of something big, she cried or tried too if I recall - pathetic whimpering, painful squirming - irritating on the whole... We were trying to fix her pathetic form... Something to be proud of. Her aunt took her away - I'd tell you to ask her about it but well - we took care of that too." She waves a dismissive hand.
"Let me ask another question then since you are not understanding what I am asking as any logical being would." Clears his throat "What did she become?"
Alza turned around looking to Abranka she put her fingers together "Why don't you tell me what she's become. Hmn Has she become your partner, friend, lover - assistant, mother? It doesn't matter what she became to us she was broken and we were fixing her in... Any method a parent could - you would know about that now wouldn't you? Your parents loved you dearly - your father did quite a bit to save you."
"What was placed that allowed to see? There was no hidden devices installed or anything of the sort unless you place organical methods into the genetics." He kept a hold of the notes with both hands seemingly to be lost to everything else around himself still.
"I think the question is more along the lines of... How far would you go to find out what exactly was done? Would you tear her apart to find what that is?"
"What if I said yes?" He simply replies watching her.
She grinned "Then you are more monster than I or Orin... But I know you wouldn't. The secret will die with her."
"May I inquire ahead of this time that you will not be willing to share or indulge on this information to profound yourself of any selfed way?"
She let out air through her nose "You already killed my husband, and your sap for brains twig friend there would be in bliss to ring my neck - why would I reveal anything to you?"
She actually let her daggers clatter to the floor at that statement, it was true, given the chance she'd off the woman without a moments hesitation. Now ringing her neck, now that sounded like a challenge befitting of such a frustration incorrigible woman. Fare just watched on quietly now, violet eyes speaking volumes about her inherent hate for Alza.
Abranka nods slowly to Alza a few times and tilts his head slightly. The pale to his face still showing as he just speaks with slightly narrowed eyes "Indeed." Turns around and looks up to Farellynn then to Anson "What do you plan to do with Alza here?"
Anson looked down to Abranka "The choice is yours ultimately, we brought them here for questioning."
"Alright." He turns to Farellynn "Since she isnt willing to talk anymore. You may go ahead and cease her existance."
While Abranka had his back turned she pulled out a dagger and was cutting up her arms... The dagger's shadow magic swirled as she was bleeding and smeering runes on the floor.
The Sylvari scooped up her daggers taking notice of such actions she made for the asuran woman, practically bounding by Abranka and Anson. Not on her watch, especially not when she had been given such permissions.
He turns around slowly watching Farellynn as he blinks.
As the door to the cage opened by Farellynn the blood around Alza smoked and flared up in green fire - the smoke escaping the cage leaving nothing but smears and blood on the floor.
The ashen Sylvari gave a very low guttural growl, almost that of a wounded animal. This was far from over. No rest for the wicked, not for her, and certainly not for Alza. This was no longer simply Order business and it hadn't been as soon as those clones had become involved, and thinking back on it, it was really personal from the moment the Abranka look alike had attacked her. In a fit of raged she stabbed at the wall, the daggers edges glancing off the stone.
He stares blankly at the smoke as it leaves and at the now empty cell and glances to Farellynn then to Anson "She needs to die.." Lunst had already left as soon as it happened exiting the cave. He glances back to Farellynn again staring for a moment.
Anson watched curiously "Haven't seen that in some time... Duroc will be tailing the smoke as far as he can..." she seemed curious "I recommend collecting the remnants for examination."
He nods and turns once again pulling out an empty container from behind himself and collecting some as mentioned.
"Are you alright, you look ill." Anson spoke calmly to Abranka noting there was no point in asking the sylvari - seeing how mad she was.
She leaned against the wall she had so viciously attacked a moment ago, head reeling. Eventually she stood up of her own power, adrenaline allowing her to once more ignore the damage she'd sustained at the lab. Predictably, the sylvari turned to leave, stiff movements lending to the crushing she'd received at the hands of Cuddles.
He glances to Anson and simply just leaves himself as well walking rather slowly as he watches Farellynn ahead of himself making her way out.
Anson nodded slowly as she followed Abranka out of the Chantry quietly as she paused to look at Farellynn "Tend your wounds, chasing smoke will do you no good."
Farellynn whips around, "I'll have them tended to but not here at the Chantry." was her very sharp response. She never intended to snap at Anson but the leaf was in a very very sour way. She looked down to Abranka expression softening, almost as if pleading for his forgiveness at her failure.
He glances to her for only a second as he continued to step onward. He eventually stops as Lunst wasn't anywhere in sight. "She just needs to be dealt with. Labs been exposed. To many stolen knowledges."
Anson followed quietly listening to them her hands behind her back as she stopped a short distance away.
Farellynn so very much wanted to tell him to consider it done, but given her track record with the woman he couldn't so much as lie to Abranka, she shook her head and continued on past the asuran. She wanted to tell him that she was sorry, but she figured the head of Alza would say that best.
"Im going back." Was all he spoke back to Anson and pulls his helmet back on and continues onward past.
"Very well; I will let Overwatch know of the situation at hand. Duroc and Spirit will be on patrol and lookout for any indication of her presence."
