Introduction

I'd like to start out by giving thanks to Bump Back Betty (http://bumpbackbetty.blogspot.ca/) and the wonderful roleplay (RP) community based on the server "The Tarnished Coast" (http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/home) for inspiring me to start up this blog. This blog will be based off of the game Guild Wars 2 (GW2) from the perspective of an Asura who has the unpleasant misfortune of being unable to speak.

Thought behind the Character:

This being my first character here in Guild Wars ever, I hope to bring a unique dynamic to the RP through detailed actions, and limiting myself by creating a character unable to speak under normal circumstances.

I knew I wanted to create an Asura, their adorable on all fronts, thoughtful and had a charm about them, even if their lore did present them as an intelligent arrogant race. From there it was a tough choice mulling over what profession (class) I desired to be. The first choices were an Engineer, Necromancer, Theif or Elementalist.

I finally decided on an Elementalist - this is where the ideas started to really flow as far as character creation went. Knowing they are permitted pets for spells I had to check first if spell casting required speech. I lucked out - based on what I saw from previews of the class - they did not require speech. If this happens to change by release - well, I guess I will just have to roll with it and mold the character as needed to make things work out.

Now it came to what College to place the little Asura female in, the three types allowed so much possibility and honestly a thought that had not crossed my mind until I started roleplaying in The Queasy Quaggan - an in character (IC) chat room on the Guild Wars 2 Roleplayers site linked above.

I chose the College of Dynamics and below gives a short explanation of what it is:

The College of Dynamics

"The asura of the College of Dynamics are best understood as the gizmo
makers. Masters of swift, innovative problem solving, they tend to produce items that last only as long as they are necessary in order to make the next intuitive leap. They are energetic, enthusiastic, and impulsive, tending to start projects before researching the possible results. They love to figure out how other races do things in order to…appropriate…and improve upon that magical theory for their own purposes. An experiment is only a failure, their advisors say, if you don’t learn anything from it. When a member of the college speaks of his alma mater, they typically are speaking of the body of work, experiments, and thought that form a mental picture of the college’s achievements—the overall innovations that they have provided to the world. In the Eternal Alchemy, they are most often referred to as the tooth-gears and mainsprings of the universe." - Taken from the site: http://www.arena.net/blog/that-old-college-try

This seemed like the best fit for the Asura female that had this strange situation thrust at her no longer able to speak, it gave her a persistent attitude to keep trying until she could make things work. At least - this is how I perceive it. Add in a slight twist of clumsiness and you've got humor mixed in with purpose!

Past that she was meant to be adorable and her RP descriptive from her facial expressions, to what she did to get what she had to say across. Though this is working for now in the Queasy Quaggan, soon it will be time to see how this character fares in the release come Early Release - August 25, 2012.

Lets give this a go! Let's see what comes with being Speechless!
