Roleplay: Riddle of the Lost and Found - Part 3
A sketch of Garrett holding Maranari
After Maranari had explained to Garrett by her sketches the basics of how they more than likely ended up where they were via worm hole - she let out a sigh. It was cold and there was a bunch of Risen bashing at the front of the Asuran building. She had lots more to explain but was too tired and just wanted to rest.
Garrett had been talking to someone periodically as if distracted by something else entirely he informed Maranari that they couldn't stay here and needed to get back to Lion's Arch, while the others were busy dealing with something else. She frowned a bit hearing the news and nodded she got up off of Garrett's lap rubbing her face a moment and looked to him nodding. If the others were unable to come to them, they would just have to make it back to Lion's Arch on their own. She had a vague idea of where they might be but it was harder to explain than needed and she opted to just going with Garrett pointing the way.
They made they're way out of the Asuran building which Maranari soon identified after taking a look previously - it was where she had asked Abranka to meet her, she simply frowned at how worried he now must be. She shook her head as they started North-bound back to Lions Arch, a journey which would take a considerable amount of time...

Creative: Abranka and Maranari Sketch
Still on vacation till Sunday, so here is another sketch of Abranka and Maranari. Done while being bored and waiting on someone.
The outfit on Abranka is the standard style of Asura general clothing given to players, the outfit Maranari is wearing was made up and is not obtainable in game at all.
I really should not have colored in her nose, the pen was much darker than I thought it was when applied to the paper.. She looks silly now - but there you have it.
Drawn with:
- Ball Point Pen (sketch)
- Fine Tip Sharpie Pen (inking)

Roleplay: Riddle of the Lost and Found - Part 2
Garrett looked about the wet, slightly flooded beach where the risen were
pulling themselves out from the sand and coming from the nearby trees to the
east. He was dazed, wondering how he had even managed to get
through.
He moved over to where Maranari was checking to see if she was alive. After confirming that she was he sat with her in his arms cradled in a way keeping her warm and hoping to avoid alerting the nearby Risen. Maranari breathed slowly shivering in his arms while Garrett was plotting out whether or not to stay where they were, or to head to the Asuran structure that was under siege by the Risen. He opted for the building, it was safer than being ambushed by a wandering group.
Picking Maranari up off his lap he made a dash for the Asuran structure attempting to shield both himself and Maranari from any attacks from the offense or defense. It was a struggle as he was just as tired as ever, but once inside he sat back down safe further back inside the building away from the fighting.
After a short while; Maranari was coming too, Garrett had been speaking into something when she awoke trying to describe where they were. Maranari shifted a bit which caught his attention. She looked up at him clearly confused of the situation looking around to where they were. Garrett asked her where they were but alas - her collar was gone long before this event, she had no way of speaking to him. She paused getting up - wobbly at first to a nearby table seeing if they had anything to write with, and on.
She came back sitting on his lap again realizing she missed the warmth when she got up. She had managed to find a charcoal pencil and some parchment which she placed on her lap and started to sketch some crude drawing trying to explain to Garrett what had happened...

Creative: Sketching
So as of right now I've been on Vacation down in sunny California for a week now (although it's raining right now) just relaxing and enjoying myself.
I'll be updating some of the hanging story arcs remaining and updating things most likely today to get everything caught up. I've missed about 2 weeks of RP between moving and Vacation time, but it's all good. Bruden (a good Norn friend) has been chronicling the other half of the adventures which can be found here: http://ragtagwanderers.enjin.com/forum/m/8484039/viewforum/1853893
There are adventures which happen between and tie into "One Week Later" and "Riddle of the Lost and Found".
I've done a couple of sketches recently of Maranari and Abranka. So I present to you the sketches of the two Asura.
Both of these sketches are on my Deviant Art: http://keiatra.deviantart.com/

Roleplay: Conclusion to One Week Later
Finally; the short conclusion of "One Week Later"
The Conclave had gone silent, had they forgotten about the Asura? No; they had been speaking to Abranka and even he they would soon leave out. They had mentioned they wanted them to be ambasadors for their noble outreach towards other races. What false promises, nothing more than polite courtosy to the two really.
Maranari didn't really care for them to begin with. It was the arrogance in the hair that she disliked, it was the same arrogance as Rata Sum, ironic in it's own way. She thought the Asura and the Nobility of Divinity's Reach would make quite the pair really. One could do all the talking while the other would prove their power and worth. In other words... It could work; Humans and Asura minus the fact the two species were too proud.
Maranari decided she had other things to attend too. Abranka and herself still had much traveling to do; there were several places they still had plotted out and it would take some time to fully explore, and Abranka had been hard at work creating a new collar for her to wear. One that was to help her speak again. It was a simple device with a leather band to go around her neck. It had been tested a couple of times but it felt weird. It made her think and go into long moments of silence; something she had become acustomed too.
She looked about waiting for Abranka, she spotted him heading towards her. It was time to head off and go on their next adventure.

Roleplay: Riddle of the Lost and Found - Part 1
20 days later, including a move and some non-related drama to go with it - here
we are back to Guild Wars 2, and hopefully a regular schedule
now!
Much has happened since we last left off. Lately I've only had time to really work on leveling in my time that I've been online with minor spurts of RP doses injected spontaneously.
Just before my move an RP even was stirred up with a letter to Abranka from Maranari.
The letter mentioned that she was heading to Firefly Fen to look into the Risen situation there, the necromancy intrigued her and may hold an answer to curing her inability to speak without assistance seeing as even some of the Risen could speak, garbled as some of it may be.
When Abranka went to look for her in the Fen to assist; he could not find her - instead he found two other attachments of the torn letter. One piece mentioned to meet her at the United Arcanist Lab in the south several days before.
Heading there straight away, unable to find her started a new panic. During this time within the Ragtag Wanderers (RTW) a riddle had been revealed, sending the rest of the group into a hunt for the meaning of the riddle and the location of Maranari.
Nearly a week went by without any luck in solving the riddle, or finding Maranari. Abranka now panicked was in a scramble to find her.
As the RTW group soon solved the puzzle it led them to an underwater lab; strangely where they happened to find Maranari... Right near a wormhole. She was trapped within the containment field - how she got there was unknown.
When trying to retrieve her; the wormhole was triggered, pulling her within it. Garrett quickly went after her trying to remove her from the pull of the wormhole.
Garrett awoke to a Risen attack on a nearby Asuran structure, Maranari unconscious nearby, but no sign of the others in the party...

Roleplay: One Week Later
Where we left off:
After being absorbed into Guild Wars 2 for per-release and then of course this following week; I present to you Maranari - my silent little Asura, College of Dynamics.Basic Description:
With red hair and blue eyes, this little Asura Elementalist is on a journey to find her voice, both literally and figuratively. Unknown to anyone but herself the reasons of her mute situation she; along with her friends are searching for a way to resolve the strange situation while exploring the vast land of Tyria.Current Storyline:
Given the current situation of her lack of voice, she along with Abranka (an Asura Guardian; College of Statics) are working on a collar invention to help her regain her voice. Tested once so far it seemed successful spare for the quiet return of sound, and the inability to survive electrical current. Returning to square one, the pair are working on getting the collar to work. While exploring in Kessex Hills both Abranka and Maranari encounter a couple of women from the Highborn Conclave [RULE] whom later on invite both Abranka and Maranari to a Lucheon in Wizard's Fief.
After a period of introductions and learning much about this organization; the two Asura felt welcomed amongst the human gathering. Claudea (the presumed founding member) even invited Abranka and Maranari as "auxiliary" members to the Conclave as ambassadors. A decision that neither Asura could make lightly and politely replied that they would consider the honored offer.
After explaining that they would think upon the offer, they were then invited to help organize an event to happen one week from that moment (Saturday September 8th) a tournament for fundraising and charity to be held. More details were to come to them as Claudea would start the preparations.

Creative/Roleplay: Character Creation - Vector Time (Bonus RP at the bottom)
Again this is all concept art for the time being, but I'm enjoying myself. This one is a bit more thought out as far as her basic design goes.
Still there is a lot that is subject to change, but I like it so far. Thoughts?
Speechless will not be her name by the way, I'm working on several named for her character - I'll pick one soon! I have been using one specifically for IC RP at the time. If I'm lucky I will get to keep it.
For now though, the name will be mysterious!
This was done in CorelDraw X6 and Corel Painter X. I started with a sketch in painter, and moved it over to Vector thinking it would look better that way - which is does!
A little bonus of what I was doing while working on this lovely little drawing. I was RPing in the IC chat room tonight with a friend. It was really quiet tonight, but that's OK - I guess everyone is just getting into their work week. It was just the two of us all night though there were some lurkers hanging out not participating.
Going to put it into a little bit of a short story - we'll see if this is a style I want to work with come release of GW2. This is literally for the most part just copied and pasted from the chat room - minor grammatical edits were made and more story-like insertion as far as who is speaking.
Characters:
Female Asura: My Character
Male Asura: Friend's Character
Male Asura: Samtok: Other Friend's Character that joined in later.
Female Asura: Aadri: Random Player
It's nothing fancy, was just something to pass the time for a couple of hours. Keeping in mind again; this was done between me and one other person - till near the end where there was another person joining in. Thus the nice color coded RP session!
~Enjoy~
A Quiet Night at the Queasy Quaggan
Stepping
through the doors he quietly walks to the bar going between the tables and
chairs as he usualy does. Getting up onto the stool he places a coin on the bar
as he waits for Elghoo. "Just water." Taking
the mug of water he rubs the back of his frizzled hair and sips placing it
back. Turning to the face the tavern his back resting on the bar.
The small Asura female
came into the tavern, she was carrying a large bag as she happily put it down
on the floor near a chair climbing up onto the chair and pulling the bag up
onto the table.
His wide eyes watching her carrying the large bag as he took his mug and walks over
to her taking a seat on the opposite side from her. "Hey! Inside the bag
your ongoing project?"
The small female Asura looked at him waving to him a bit, she opened the bag pulling out some
components he may be familiar with.
He takes
a sip of water and then picks up one of the components. "Project been
doing well? Or running into more problems?"
Looking to him she made a slight face to the fact it was complicated. She seemed
distracted with a few other things she pulled a few more things out of the bag
setting them on the table
Placing his mug down he looked to a few other things. "Did you bring the design
with you?" He replied looking to all of the components once more.
Nodding she pulled the tablet out last she crawled on top of the table a moment
sitting on it turning the tablet to him.
Taking the tablet he smiled how she crawled over glancing to her then back to the
tablet again. "Lets see.. Oh wow that is a lot of changes!" He smirks
as he starts looking it all over.
She
had the collar on at the moment though it wasn't doing anything she took it off
pulling the strap off.
Continuing to review the design he finaly decided to use the crystal to start making some adjustments or addons. He glances
to the collar seeing a strap on it now then looks back down to the tablet
She took one of the components
breaking off parts of the object.
Continuing to make adjustments on the
design he slides the tablet over to her. "Its pretty well set. I just
think a few minor connections need to be here such as the brantolabulius."
He points to the tablet.
Leaning over as she looked at the
tablet she nodded and was bending a part of the object she was tearing apart.
He places the crystal next to the
tablet and looks to the component she was trying to tear apart. "Just be
easy now."
She looked at him offering the object
to him.
He blinks to the offer and takes it
slowly. "Well alright. I didn't mean you couldn't do it or something you
know just to be careful." He held onto it struggling with the item for a
few moments until it finally came off with a snap. "There we go!"
She watched him putting her hands on
her lap after offering the collar.
"Here."
He hands the component back to her with a smile blinking. "Almost ready for
another test?"
She nodded pulling one of the other tools out from the bag.
"Just
remember that if it doesn't do anything I would prefer you deactivate
immediately. Some of the other concepts you have here might cause it to explode
which I'm sure wouldn't cause any harm." He looks to her.
She
blinked nodding a bit to him she opened the back of the contraption inserting
the part now.
He
took a sip from his water placing it back down again. "I have to admit as
harsh as it will sound but I have changed some of those designs around quite
often I get worried but realize that you are a Dynamics type." He smirks.
She
looked to him wondering what he meant exactly by that.
He
blinks. "Meaning of your studies. You know college and all." He nods.
She
nodded blinking. She smirked at him and put the part in the back of the collar.
He
took another sip of his water and blinks watching her place the part in.
She
flipped it over and looked at him tempted to push the button on it.
He
watches the collar then to her. "I have water ready in case I have to use
it." He squints to her smiling.
She
blinked looking at it she pressed the button as it made a humming sound.
He
kept a hand on his mug watching the collar more closely now. Ears were upright
as he sat up. "Give it a test. Otherwise turn it off."
She blinked at him seeing his paranoia over it. She held it up to her throat and
made a few sounds of vowels. Which seemed to work as the power soon died out.
"Hm."
He rubs under his lip. "At least it didn't blow up." He kept watching
the collar closely. "Maybe the tanstroptor is trying to work to hard
trying to amplify. Has Samtok been by yet?" He looks back to her.
She
shook her head. She hadn't seen him since last night she wasn't entirely sure
where he had gotten off too.
"I
wonder if he has been working day and night on that potion he talked
about." He blinks relaxing in his seat and sips his water. "Its
possible the potion might beable to amplify your box to a degree that the
device can pick up. This way it doesn't have
to struggle."
She
tilted her head thinking nodding a bit. She sighed in the mean time putting the
parts away in the bag.
He
slides the tablet over to himself looking at the design quickly for a moment
then slides it back to her. "Oh I'm sure it will be solved." He
smiles.
She
nodded a bit as she looked out of one of the tavern windows thinking on the
quiet night.
He
places his hands together watching her quietly. Glancing to his mug he finishes
the rest of his water and sets it back down. "Whats on your mind right
now?" Following her look out the window.
She
looked at him and then back outside. She made a bit of a face and looked to the
collar and then back outside - she thought to herself what may be out there
that could help.
He
looks down for a moment feeling a little ignored as he glances to his empty
mug. "Erm.. You want anything to drink perhaps?"
She
looked to him hearing him ask her a question again. She shifted on the table
facing him she looked at his water and pointed at it with a smile.
He
nods heading to the bar placing two coins down along with his mug he already
had. He returns with them both now placing one in front of her and sitting back
down in his seat.
She
smiled at him taking the mug sipping the water down quite parched.
He
does the same setting it back down with a sigh and glances to the window then
looks to her blinking.
She
looked at him back she tilted her head wondering what was on his mind now.
He
sips his water again and just smiles to her. "Hopefully I don't end up
staying to late you know?"
She
squinted at him blinking. She shook her head confused at what he meant she took
the tablet from him and wrote on it a question mark.
He
places both hands on the mug clearing his throat. "I'm just uhm.. What is
your relation between you and Samtok?" He blinks
She
blinked looking at him surprised of the question to begin with she shrugged
a little bit unsure really herself.
A loud roar came from upstairs,
shaking the tavern a bit.
She
lowered her ears a moment startled by the sudden roar from upstairs.
"Well" He sips his water both hands on it still.
"Curious really. I just see a lot of mathematical properties in your eyes.
Just-" He blinks looking upwards quickly rather startled.
She sighed a bit wondering what beast was upstairs from the roar, part of her was concerned it was angry.
He clears his throat trying to get himself to relax again. He sips his water setting the mug down. "Unexpected."
Nodding to him she looked up at the ceiling listening to hear if she could hear anything else. A fight perhaps
Noticing
her looking up now he sighs and looks down to his mug. "Damn
interruptions." He replied as he chugs the rest of his water down and
leans back glancing around in the tavern.
She
looked back at him, she was still wondering why he had really asked.
Taking the tablet she wrote on it again this time circling the question
mark.
Blinking at the question mark again he replied "As I said
mathematical equations pop in your eyes when I see. Its very inquiring."
He nods watching her. "Which is why I was curious is all. Not that I'm
trying to pry." He shook his head.
Not knowing how to reply she shrugged. She looked to him and doodled on the tablet a few moment.
Looks to his now empty mug
fiddling with it as he gave a slight frown but shakes it off blinking
to the tablet. "Making some more adjustments?"
It
wouldn't be a complete night until Sammy had visited a bar. The tall Asura came trudging in, dragging a suitcase on wheels behind him. He
gave a lazy salute to those he recognized. "Yo."
He blinks glancing to Samtok giving a smile. "So you are alive still." He nods. "Been busy that long?
She
looked at him and smiled at him, as she heard the dragging of
something enter the tavern, she waved a bit then looked at Samtok with a
questioning look with the suitcase.
"Been working all
night and all day... I've got a few things to try..." He stops and
kicks a button on the side of the case. It pops open and unfolds,
transforming into a complete chemical lab right in the middle of the
tavern.
He watched the entire case
unfold with a blink. "Well that is handy." He looks to Samtok. "A few
things? You sure made preparations then."
Her eyes grew wide in surprise seeing the massive amounts of supplies that he had.
"Well
it beats having to run back and forth." He grins at them, firing a
finger pistol at her though, then waves her over. "Alright...
Ready?" He tilts his head.
"Well
true." He blinks at his finger pistol again and looks back to her.
He took a glance to his suitcase lab again looking to all the different ingredients at his disposal.
She scooted to the edge of the table, and jumped off and made her way over to the instant-lab.
He wiggles his
fingers. "Alright, let's see.... We'll try just one for now and I'll
keep the lab here." He grabs up the first vial and hands it to her.
"Should give them at least a few minutes to try to work anyways."
She looked at the first vial, she glanced back to him - and paused then looking to Samtok. She took the vial and
opened it up hesitating at first to try it - then downed the potion
quickly.
Watches her studying as she downed the vial. He elbow on the table leaning to one side as he watches.
She shook her head at the taste as she paused a moment feeling what the potion may be doing.
Samtok
watched eagerly with his head tilted. The potion was another attempt
at soothing whatever damage there may have been to her throat and vocal
chords while having a rejuvenating effect to stimulate repair of tissue.
She
tried to talk but no sound came out ,she felt a bit queezy - though she
could defiantly feel it doing something positive to her throat.
A small asura with curly pigtails and bright yellow armor wanders into the Quaggan. She is carrying a basket basket brimming with documents. She smiles brightly when she sees there are other folks.
His large ears flop at seeing it didn't work. "Damn... We'll try again tomorrow I guess." The tall asura kicks the side of the lab again and it folds back up into the size of a suitcase. He notes the new asura entering and waves happily to her. "Heya Toots!"
The Asura male nods with a smile. "Yea good i-" He pauses hearing him speak and looks to Aadri blinking noticing her basket.
Pausing a moment, she rushed up the stairs leaving her things behind, the queezyness from the potion seeming to get to her rather quickly.
Sammy blinks as he spots her dart upstairs. "Er.. You wanna check on her or should I?" He looks to him.
"HI
THERE!" Aadri says enthusiastically, showing all of her shiny pointy
teeth in a friendly (perhaps only to other asura). She claims a table,
plops down the basket and starts sorting the papers.
"I
can check on her. Gotta bring the stuff to her I suppose anyways." He
blinks at her enthusiasm and smiles in return to her large grin. He
picks up her things placing them into the back and gets up from
his seat. "I will be right back a moment wont be long." He spoke to Samtok and Aadri.

Creative: Character Creation Update
I decided to give a short update doodle of the concept character looks. Of course this wont be final until I can get into the game next Saturday to iron out all the details in the character creation.
I know her hair is wrong; just uhmn... Go with it?
This is hosted on Deviant Art, thus the watermark on it at this moment in time.
Now; with that said, that is all for a little while, it's off to the Queasy Quaggan for me!

Now; with that said, that is all for a little while, it's off to the Queasy Quaggan for me!
Introduction
I'd like to start out by giving thanks to Bump Back Betty (http://bumpbackbetty.blogspot.ca/) and the wonderful roleplay (RP) community based on the server "The Tarnished Coast" (http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/home) for inspiring me to start up this blog. This blog will be based off of the game Guild Wars 2 (GW2) from the perspective of an Asura who has the unpleasant misfortune of being unable to speak.
I knew I wanted to create an Asura, their adorable on all fronts, thoughtful and had a charm about them, even if their lore did present them as an intelligent arrogant race. From there it was a tough choice mulling over what profession (class) I desired to be. The first choices were an Engineer, Necromancer, Theif or Elementalist.
I finally decided on an Elementalist - this is where the ideas started to really flow as far as character creation went. Knowing they are permitted pets for spells I had to check first if spell casting required speech. I lucked out - based on what I saw from previews of the class - they did not require speech. If this happens to change by release - well, I guess I will just have to roll with it and mold the character as needed to make things work out.
Now it came to what College to place the little Asura female in, the three types allowed so much possibility and honestly a thought that had not crossed my mind until I started roleplaying in The Queasy Quaggan - an in character (IC) chat room on the Guild Wars 2 Roleplayers site linked above.
I chose the College of Dynamics and below gives a short explanation of what it is:
makers. Masters of swift, innovative problem solving, they tend to produce items that last only as long as they are necessary in order to make the next intuitive leap. They are energetic, enthusiastic, and impulsive, tending to start projects before researching the possible results. They love to figure out how other races do things in order to…appropriate…and improve upon that magical theory for their own purposes. An experiment is only a failure, their advisors say, if you don’t learn anything from it. When a member of the college speaks of his alma mater, they typically are speaking of the body of work, experiments, and thought that form a mental picture of the college’s achievements—the overall innovations that they have provided to the world. In the Eternal Alchemy, they are most often referred to as the tooth-gears and mainsprings of the universe." - Taken from the site: http://www.arena.net/blog/that-old-college-try
This seemed like the best fit for the Asura female that had this strange situation thrust at her no longer able to speak, it gave her a persistent attitude to keep trying until she could make things work. At least - this is how I perceive it. Add in a slight twist of clumsiness and you've got humor mixed in with purpose!
Past that she was meant to be adorable and her RP descriptive from her facial expressions, to what she did to get what she had to say across. Though this is working for now in the Queasy Quaggan, soon it will be time to see how this character fares in the release come Early Release - August 25, 2012.
Lets give this a go! Let's see what comes with being Speechless!
Thought behind the Character:
This being my first character here in Guild Wars ever, I hope to bring a unique dynamic to the RP through detailed actions, and limiting myself by creating a character unable to speak under normal circumstances.I knew I wanted to create an Asura, their adorable on all fronts, thoughtful and had a charm about them, even if their lore did present them as an intelligent arrogant race.
The College of Dynamics
"The asura of the College of Dynamics are best understood as the gizmomakers.
